Thankfully I am happy with my Pioneer BDR-205. This thread is simply insane. This thread is simply insane. Pioneer made a huge mistake with all the games with this model. Free PIONEER BD-RW BDR-206D Firmware 1.56 driver download. BDR-206D PIONEER has been tested with Burn4Free DVD and Blu-ray Burning Software.
The BDR-206DBK 12x Internal Blu-ray Disc/DVD/CD Writer from Pioneer is an internal SATA Blu-ray burner. The drive installs in a standard 5.25' expansion bay, and is an excellent option for anyone who would like to add Blu-ray read and write capabilities to their computer system. This burner can read and write a number of different Blu-ray, DVD, and CD formats. While this optical drive is plug-and-play and does not require installation software, you will need to purchase and install separate software for burning discs. Note: You might need separate software for reading and playing discs; however, your operating system most likely includes a program.

Rated 3 out of 5 by Litigation Jackson from Solid performance, but one strange quirk I'm running Windows 7 64-bit and I've used this drive so far to burn CDs and double-layer DVDs. I've also used it to play CDs, DVDs, and Blu-Rays without any problems. The drive has performed as advertised for all of those tasks. The one quirk I referred to is that when I start my computer with a Blu-Ray disc already in the drive, the drive does not show up as a device anywhere on the system.
Rebooting with a CD, DVD, or no disc in the drive corrects the issue. The latest firmware on Pioneer's website is older than the preinstalled firmware, so I don't know if a fix is in the works. The drive functions fine. As long as I don't boot up with a Blu-Ray in the drive, everything works great.
Rated 4 out of 5 by BlitzburghSteelers from Great drive, wish I knew I needed cables I bought this to add to my existing HP desktop PC which already has a DVD burner. However, since the drive did not come with the cables necessary to hook it up, I ended up using the cables from the DVD writer that was already installed. The drive itself was extremely easy to install and works great with CD's, DVD's and BD's, I just wish they had told me that I would need to purchase the cables separately, or at least have the cables listed as an accessory option on the page with the other items.
